Wanderers now have 16 points from 6 games, while their rivals sit at the top of the log table with 18 points having won all of their opening 6 fixtures of the season before this loss.

The Nomads lone goal came in the 12th minute of the game through Blessings Mwalilino and held on to the lead, missing several chances up to 90 minutes of regulation time.

In the defining moment of 7 minutes of added time, current leading top goal scorer Babatunde Adepoju, who has proven to being a thorn in the Wanderers flesh since he switched his allegiance from blue to red, saw his perfect header punched away by Wanderers goalkeeper.

The derby came in Week 9 of action in the TNM Super League 2025 and in head-to-head in all competitions from 2019 to 2024 in 10 matches played, Bullets have won 2 games whilst Wanderers have won 1 match, on the other hand Bullets lost 1 game and the rivals lost 2 matches, and having 7 match draws.

As the two teams trooped out of the dressing rooms, they carried a portrait of late Yasin Osman, the star player who brought to the fore their rivalry when he defected to the Bullets in 1968.

A moment of silence was observed at the centre in the honour of the legend who passed on at the age of 75 last month.

Yasin made this derby interesting to date as he ignited the rivalry back then when he was sold off to the Bullets at 100 Malawian pounds, which was quite a huge sum at that time — going into Malawi soccer history as the first player ever to be sold.

His defection angered Wanderers faithful and though he soon returned to the Lali Lubani Road, the fierce rivalry on the pitch and outside of it among the supporters remained to date.
