When presented MK20 million sponsorship towards the hosting of the 2026 Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) Lakeshore Conference, NBS Bank Chief Executive Officer, Temwani Simwaka highlighted that this year’s theme; ‘From Silos to Synergies: Strategic Partnerships for Malawi’s Sustainable Transformation’, speaks strongly to how NBS Bank sees its role in the financial services sector.

“Progress requires partnerships,” she said at the presentation ceremony held at NBS Bank head office at Ginnery Corner in Blantyre.
“It requires institutions that understand each other, work together and create solutions that respond to the real needs of people, businesses and families.
“That is the approach we are taking at NBS Bank. We want to support our customers not only in their professional lives, but also in their businesses, their investments and the futures they are building for their families.
“This is why platforms such as ICAM are important to us. They allow us to engage, listen and demonstrate how our Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Retail, Financial Advisory and, importantly, Family Banking solutions can support our customers at different stages of their journey.”

She took cognizance that ICAM’s annual conferences brings together some of Malawi’s leading professionals, executives, business owners and decision-makers.
“We see this partnership as an opportunity to deepen relationships with a community that plays an important role in shaping businesses, institutions and ultimately our economy.
“As ‘The Caring Bank’, our commitment is to continue building relationships that go beyond transactions and to care a little more about the aspirations of the people and institutions we serve.
“We thank ICAM for the partnership and look forward to a successful conference, meaningful engagements and, importantly, a relationship that continues well beyond the event itself.”

On its part, ICAM highlights that together, the financial institutions “can move from silos to synergies and build a more sustainable Malawi.
To be held from September 17-18 at Sun ‘n’ Sand Holiday Resort, the conference will bring together leaders and professionals to explore how stronger partnerships can unlock new opportunities and drive lasting impact.
ICAM — a professional accountancy organisation which was formed in 2013 out of the merger of the Public Accountants Examinations Council (PAEC) and the Society of Accountants in Malawi (SOCAM) — is mandated under the Public Accountants and Auditors Act (PAAA) No 5 of 2013 to supervise the accountancy profession and administer qualifying accountancy qualifications in Malawi.
