Standard Bank has signed a partnership agreement with Blue Eagles FC as the main sponsor for the rest of the season at a package of K250 million.

The Malawi Police Service side are currently leading the FDH Bank Premiership log table after the first round of the 2026/27 season.
The sponsorship package sees the bank winning naming rights of the club to be called Standard Bank Blue Eagles FC.
At the unveiling of the partnership, Standard Bank Chief Executive, Phillip Madinga said the decision to sponsor the Area 30-based side was driven by the club’s discipline and its strong connection to the community.
“Blue Eagles is more than a football club — it is a symbol of discipline, hard work and resilience — values that are at the core of Standard Bank.
“We are proud to associate our brand with a team that not only entertains on the pitch but also represents the Malawi Police Service with honour.”

Madinga, himself an exciting former international, who rose high after playing as midfielder for University of Malawi FC and Mighty Wanderers FC, added that the sponsorship will leverage on the community values that the Police side represents.
“Football unites. We believe football has the power to transform lives and inspire the youth. This K250 million investment is our commitment to growing the game and supporting talent development in Malawi,” he said.
Fired up by the package, an elated Inspector General of Police Richard Luhanga challenged the Area 30 club to strive for the continent’s elite club champions league under CAF.
“We will do everything to protect this sponsorship,” said Luhanga, who is also Blue Eagles patron. “Next season, our target is to play in the CAF Champions League.”

On his part, William Nkhoma, Blue Eagles’ chief administration officer, described the sponsorship as a game-changer for the club’s ambitions and pledged that the club will manage the funds professionally.
“This investment is in safe and capable hands. We will ensure that the partnership with Standard Bank Plc delivers value for both sides.
“With Standard Bank behind us, we are confident we will soar higher,” said Nkhoma.
The sponsorship makes Standard Bank Plc one of the biggest sponsors in the domestic league this season.

Blue Eagles will enter the 2nd round of the FDH Bank Premiership leading the log table with 31 points, followed by Nyasa Big Bullets (30 points); and Mighty Wanderers on 3rd with 29 points — sharing with Silver Strikers, who are placed 4th.
On 5th place with 22 points are Masters FC; followed by Moyale on 6th with 21, sharing with Chitipa United, who are 7th while LUANAR Mitundu occupy the cut off point for the much-anticipated for Airtel Top 8 contest with 20 points.
The Eagles open their defence of the leadership on Sunday against runners-up Nyasa Big Bullets to be played at Mpira Stadium as the 3rd-placed Mighty Wanderers will be up against 4th-placed Silver Strikers on Saturday at Silver Stadium.
