Tying on 7 points and separated by goal difference, the match between 2nd-placed Songwe Border United and 3rd-placed Embangweni United today (14h30) at Rumphi Stadium, should certainly be marked as headline fixture for Matchweek 4 of NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) Season 2.

Both have each won two games and drew once and none can afford to drop all three points. They also share points with Ndirande Stars, who placed themselves at the summit.

Top of the table Ndirande Stars, also with 7 points, will be at home at Mpira Stadium tomorrow, hosting 7th-placed Ntaja United who have 4 points.

Meanwhile, Bangwe United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Mulanje-based FOMO FC played at Mpira Stadium yesterday, for both to maintain their positions on the log table.

The result sees FOMO maintaining 5th place with 6 points sharing with Extreme FC, who are on 5th ahead of the Match Week 4 against 9th-placed Mzuzu City Hammers on Sunday at home, Owen Malijani Stadium.

Bangwe All Stars now have 2 points and maintain their place in the relegation zone on 10th, who might be overtaken following assignments involving Namitete Zitha (11th) and Changalume Barracks (12th), who both haven’t earned any point after three matches.

Namitete are on the road on Saturday to face 6th-placed Mighty Tigers at Zomba Stadium while Changalume Barracks will be hosted by 8-placed Ndirande United at Mpira Stadium.

Bangwe United scored first in the 24th minute through Lyson Nkhoma to go for half time break leading 1-0 but five minutes after resumption, FOMO equalised Sebastian Chisomba from the penalty spot.

The game at Mpira Stadium was marred by some unsporting behaviour as referee Peter Phiri flashed out six yellow cards, the 5th being a second given to FOMO’s Shadreck Mikundi in 90+3 after his first in the 68th.

First to receive the yellow card was Bangwe’s Vincent Botoman as early as the 12th minute after a bad tackle followed by FOMO’s Chimwemwe Kamowa in the 36th for bad mouthing the referee and the 3rd to Chisadzo Saidi in the 56th.

The 4th was for another FOMO player Mike Banda before Mikundi’s as the 5th in the 68th and the ultimate red card in 90+3.
