Ahead of the two Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) Morocco 2025 semifinals, the race for the Golden Boot is still open as the leading scorer with 5 goals, Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, is leading a pack of five other semifinalists contenders.

He is one goal ahead of Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah at 4 goals apiece and two ahead of Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and Morocco’s Ayoub El Kaabi.
In the first semifinal tomorrow at Grand Stade de Tanger in Tangier (18h00), Mo Salah would be aiming to overtake Brahim, who in turn will gun to increase his tally when Morocco face Osimhen’s Nigeria at Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat (21h00).
Brahim’s compatriot, Kaabi — while working as a team when the Atlas Lions date the Super Eagles — is also a strong contender as he shares 3 goals apiece with Osimhen’s compatriot, Ademola Lookman.

Ademola Lookman, 3 goals, 2 assists
Brahim, who found the net when Morocco beat Cameroon 2-0 in a high-stakes quarterfinal match, underlines the Real Madrid winger’s growing influence at the tournament as he has scored in each of the five matches played.
The goal he scored against Cameroon was an assist from Kaabi while Ismael Saibari later sealed the win — but it was Díaz who stole the spotlight, maintaining a perfect scoring run that no other player at the finals has matched so far.

He has emerged as the tournament’s most reliable attacking threat and behind his still remains the two former CAF African Player of the Year award winners, Mo Salah (2017 & 2018) and Osimhen (2023) — who is currently the second all-time highest goalscorer for the Super Eagles.
Other semifinalists with two goals each are three Senegalese, Chérif Ndiaye, Nicolas Jackson, Pape Gueye (Senegal) and two Nigerians, Raphael Onyedika and Akor Adams.—Reporting by CAFonline; edited by Maravi Express
