The NBM Women’s Premiership 2026/27 is being highly patronised following the Scorchers fairytale run at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAfCON) Morocco 2026 where they reached the final and also qualified for their debut Women World Cup to be hosted by Brazil in 2027.

But the NBM Women’s Premiership matches are free entry, which should attract a gate charge since this women’s top flight league identifies potential talent for the women national teams at all levels.
For his provisional preparatory squad, coach Lovemore Fazili has included goalkeeper of Rumphi Sisters, Jane Nyirenda, whose side are NBM Womens Premiership-debutants.
Rumphi Sisters qualified into the top flight as champions of the Northern Region and while they have so far lost their three matches, they are proving to make an impression any time soon.

FAM wants the large numbers into order to highly rally behind the Scorchers to register a strong win in the 1st leg before travelling for the reverse fixture to be held on October 13.
The winner will progress to the next round to face winners between Kenya and Seychelles in February next year.
There are 32 teams in the 2nd round from which 16 teams will qualify to the 3rd round to compete eight teams that will go to Round 4.
The final four nations will compete in the last round to determine two teams to represent Africa for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
After their fairytale at the WAfCON, much more is expected from the Scorchers to bulldoze Zimbabwe aside.

Along with Rumphi Sisters’ Jane Nyirenda, Fazili recalled the core of his WAfCON squad, including the regular goalkeepers: first choice Mercy Sikelo of Ntopwa United, Mighty Wanderers Queens Esther Maulidi and MDF Lionesses’ Yamikani Kaonga.
Defenders are Chimwemwe Madise (TP Mazembe, DR Congo), Rose Alufandika & Olivia Phikani (Ntopwa Sisters), Tionge Phiri & Ireen Khumalo (Silver Strikers Ladies), Maggie Chavula & Talandira Chinyamvula (Ascent Soccer), Patricia Nyirenda (MDF Lionesses), and Benadetta Mkandawire (Nyasa Big Bullets Women).
Midfielders: Asante Khamula (Washington Adventist University), Rose Kadzere of Montpellier, France), Faith Chimzimu (BK Häcken, Sweden), Tendai Sani (ZISD, Zambia), Letticia Chinyamula (Ascent Soccer), Chikondi Gondwe & Madyina Nguluwe (Silver Strikers Ladies) and Lyna James (Nyasa Big Bullets Women).
