A statement from the Council says this is to enable the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) to decommission and commission “Chiller plants hoisted by the crane that will be stationed on the roads during the entirety of the project”.

The Hannover Avenue exercise has been planned for Saturday and Sunday (May 29-30) and Henderson Street for Monday to Wednesday (May 31-June 2.

“This will, therefore, necessitate the closure of Hannover Avenue between the intersection with Chilembwe Road and Henderson Street followed by Henderson Street between the intersection with Hannover Avenue and Laws Road.

“The Traffic Police will be manning the affected roads including all other major intersections on Victoria Avenue to enable free flow of traffic in and around the project area.

“Some sections of the roads will temporarily be allowed to be two-way to promote trafficability.

“Blantyre City Council regrets any inconvenience that may arise during the implementation of the project,” said the statement from Costly Chanza, Blantyre City Council Director of Town Planning and Estates Services on behalf of the Chief Executive officer.
