At the official presentation of the sponsorship, NICO Life Chief Operating Officer, Chimwemwe Kanyenda emphasised that the support demonstrates NICO Life’s mission in strengthening its partnership with microfinance sector as well as appreciating the great impact being made by the Malawi Microfinance Network.
Kanyenda added that Malawi Microfinance Network expands access to finance and creates pathways for households, entrepreneurs and small business to grow. Insurance can help protect that progress.
“NICO Life sees strong potential for collaboration between the sectors: microfinance institutions bring trusted relationships and reach within communities, while insurers contribute risk expertise and protection solutions.
“Financial inclusion means ensuring that every person has the opportunity to participate in economic life with greater security and dignity.
Kanyenda further stated that microfinance institutions are rooted in the communities they serve: “By working together, we can help make financial protection part of a more inclusive future, one in which more Malawians, particularly those often underserved, have the opportunity to protect their families and build resilience.
“NICO Life offers solutions including Credit Life, Group Life Assurance and Funeral Insurance. Working with microfinance institutions creates an opportunity to consider how such protection can be designed and delivered around clients’ needs, including those of lower-income households and small businesses.”

In his vote of thanks, Microfinance Network’s Board Director, Jason Bowler said NICO Life’s partnership demonstrates its understanding of the role in which the microfinance and insurance sector play together, the value of strategic collaboration and growth as well as financial inclusion.
“We commend NICO Life for this generous support which will help a lot as we are preparing for the big event,” Bowler said.
“As an institution we don’t take this donation for granted because it is coming from a company which is a constant supporter who always champion of the microfinance sector.
Bowler highlighted that the conference will bring together industry stakeholders and is expected to provide a platform for dialogue on shared priorities — including responsible innovation, sound compliance and stronger partnerships across Malawi’s financial services sector.
