TNM Super League 2024 debutantes, FOMO FC have been beaten 2-1 by fellow relegation-threatened side Chitipa United yesterday and they were pushed further into the relegation red zone from 14th to 15th.

The Mulanje-based side were 13th before their match at Civil Service United last Sunday, which they also lost 1-2 while Bangwe All Stars beat Baka City 3-0 — a win that moved them one step up the red relegation zone from 15th to 14th, pushing FOMO to 14th.

Already confirmed as relegated are Baka City, who have earned 11 points from 26 points in two wins, five draws and 19 losses in their debut appearance of the top flight League in which they have so far just scored 13 goals and conceded 66.

Having failed to win a cup competition in three tries, TNM Super League 2024 leaders will now be focused to defend their status and win the title, who have 54 points — seven ahead of second-placed Mighty Wanderers (47).

The Nomads face Mighty Tigers this afternoon and if they win their remaining six games, they would amass 65 while Silver will earn 72 from same number of games left.

Hopes for a cup title in the Airtel Top 8 eluded Silver Strikers yesterday when they were defeated 0-1 by defending champion Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium — a loss coming after been knocked out of the Castel Challenge Cup 2024 Round of 32 by a second tier Chipiku Central Region Football League side, Panthers FC on Tuesday.

They lost the match 3-4 in penalties following a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time at the giants’ own home, Silver Stadium, in which the Bankers had to come from behind having trailed 0-2 at half time.

Having rested his regular players following their intense Airtel Top 8 semifinal against Mighty Wanderers Saturday last week, the Bankers managed to hit back in the 77th minute before equalising in the 85th for the match to go for penalty shoot out.

Silver Strikers were also eliminated from the FDH Bank Cup by another Chipiku Central Region Football League side, Blue Eagles and all that remains to win the TNM Super League 2024 title is not to drop any points in their remaining 6 games.
