Farmers World is the country’s leading agriculture retail and trading company, dedicated to empowering farmers and strengthening food security through the provision of quality agricultural inputs, mechanisation solutions, and commodity trading services.

With 90 shops across the country, Farmers World serves both retail customers and farmers, combining trusted global partnerships, strong local expertise, and customer-centric innovation to support sustainable agricultural productivity and economic growth across Malawi.

The digital initiative with Airtel Money thus aims to enhance customer experience by reducing cash-handling risks and offering a faster, safer payment option — through which farmers can now shop without worrying about carrying physical cash, while Farmers World benefits from reduced cash management challenges.

At the launch yesterday, Airtel Money Managing Director, Thokozani Kamkondo Sande emphasised that the partnership reflects Airtel Malawi’s commitment to driving financial inclusion and convenience for Malawians.

“By digitising payments at Farmers World, we are making everyday transactions simpler, safer, and faster,” she said while Farmers World Retail Executive Manager, Philip Bence attested to that with Airtel Money, they are expected to enhance the in-store their customer experience by offering a seamless, modern payment solution.

“This initiative makes transactions faster and more convenient for our customers while ensuring a secure and efficient payment process within our shops.”

Customers have multiple options to complete their payments using Airtel Money, by:

1. Till prompt method

* At checkout, the Farmers World till operator will initiate the payment;

* The customer will receive a prompt on their phone;

* Confirm the payment by entering Airtel Money PIN;

* The amount will be deducted from your Airtel Money wallet instantly;

2. Scan & pay via My Airtel App

* Open the My Airtel App;

Both Airtel Money and Farmers World maintain that they “remain committed to delivering solutions that make life easier for Malawians [and that the] partnership marks a significant step toward a cashless Malawi, offering customers a secure, convenient, and innovative way to shop”.
