The Olympic Games Los Angeles Olympics 2028 dream is still alive,” ZIFA posted on its media platform. “Mighty Warriors need your support this Tuesday against Malawi at the National Sports Stadium.

“Purchase your tickets now, only 10,000 seats are available,” says ZIFA probably after witnessing the massive patronage the first leg attracted at Bingu National Stadium.

Of those seats, a huge number will probably be taken by Malawians living in Zimbabwe and other nationals impressed with the Scorchers’ historic performance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAfCON) Morocco 2026.

The Scorchers, who avenged the 1-2 defeat by the Zimbabwe side in the Tri-Nations, which Malawi hosted in November 2025 were on top of the game at Bingu and could have won it by a larger margin.

However, the clean 2-0 result — through goals from Chawinga sisters, Temwa and Tabitha, one in each half respectively — a significant boost as Zimbabwe will need to win by more three goals to nil to advance to the next round.

The winners of this round will progress to the next round to winners of Kenya v Seychelles.

There are 32 teams in the 2nd round from which 16 teams will qualify to the 3rd round to compete eight teams that will go to Round 4.

The final four nations will compete in the last round to determine two teams to represent Africa for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The Scorchers last participated in the Olympic qualifiers in 2019, in which they defeated Mozambique 14-1 on aggregate in the first round before losing 3-5 on aggregate to Kenya in the second round.
