Trio finally caught after multiple sexual defilement of a 15-year-old minor

* In May, James Masiye took her into his house where she spent three days while having sexual intercourse with her

* In June, George Magwaya took the same victim into his house where she spent one night being defiled

* The minor was also sexually victimised by Mike Kachamba in October 2024 in the same area

Police in Limbe are keeping in custody, James Masiye (26), George Magwaya (32) and Mike Kachamba (41), for alleged multiple sexual defilement of a minor they kept abducted for three days

Limbe Police Station’s public relations officer, Sergeant Aubrey Singanyama told Malawi News Agency (MANA) yesterday that in May 2024 in Bangwe township, James Masiye met the 15-year-old girl who was on her way to her grandmother’s place.

It is reported that Masiye took her into his house where she spent three days while having sexual intercourse with her and in June, in the same area, George Magwaya took the same victim into his house where she spent one night being defiled.

“The minor was also sexually victimised by Mike Kachamba in the month of October 2024 in the same area after enticing her into sexual intercourse by offering her a plate of food in his clothing shop,” Singanyama said.

He further reported that the incident was discovered by the suspect’s wife, caught her husband in the company of the girl soon after the act in the shop and reported the case to Mpingwe Police Unit.

The officers issued a referral letter to the victim to get medical examination from a health centre to prove whether she was sexually defiled or not and the results after the examination showed that the minor had sexual intercourse.

According to Sergeant Singanyama, the suspects admitted to have committed the offences and are currently in custody pending court trial. to be charged with offense of having sexual intercourse with a minor contrary to section 138(1) of the Penal Code.

Kachamba comes from Lemu Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kuntaja in Blantyre District; Masiye from Matewere Village, T/A Mlumbe in Zomba and Magwaya from Matope Village, T/A Nkalo in Chiradzulu.
