In his vote of thanks at the handover in Lilongwe, KUHeS Executive Dean, Genesis Chorwe-Sungani said the investment will boost the university’s shift towards digital education.
“The support is timely as KUHeS is trying to shift our focus towards digital education,” he said. “The servers will help facilitate online education which are being offered at a lower pace, but with the servers, online education activities like information storage, research and environment monitoring.
Standard Bank Chief Information Officer, Alvin Alfonso said the bank’s commitment towards contributing to Malawi’s economic growth, through support to the education sector, is unwavering.
“We recognise that our universities are at the heart of producing skilled professionals who will drive the nation’s progress and for them to deliver quality education — in today’s digital age — these institutions require reliable and modern technology that supports effective teaching, learning, research and administration,” he said.

He added that the expertise delivered at KUHes contributes significantly to building healthier citizens, who are the cornerstones of a productive economy.
“We believe these servers will strengthen university’s ICT capacity by support teaching and learning, enhancing academic work, improving data management, and research programs, ultimately creating a more conducive learning environment for both students and faculty,” Alfonso added.
The investment comes after the bank’s similar intervention at DAPP Mikolongwe Technical College helped the institution to increase its pass rate from below 50% to 90%.
