Parliamentary Committee on Social Welfare has once more partnered with a leading publication, Business In-detail Magazine (BIM) to host the 2024 Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) & Corporate end of year awards.
Team lead of the organising committee, Alick Sichali said the awards are aimed at appreciating and recognising corporate companies and individuals, whose activities complement government’s efforts to alleviate poverty
The event is expected to take place on December 20 at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre and Sichali said a list of award categories will be released on Friday for people to nominate contestants.
This is the second time CSR and Corporate Awards to be held in the country and Sichali said it is partnership they made with Parliament to be hosting these awards with them.
“They mostly focus on the CSR aspect so that companies should do the right activities in accordance with the policies they set,” he said, adding that for the inaugural event, they had a number of categories such as Best CSR in Sporting activities that was given to Premier Bet Malawi.
“In due course, we will be announcing the speakers and guest of honours but we we are expecting to have 20 companies attending this event.
Established in July 2022, Sichali said Business In-detail Magazine’s publications is now shaping business captains to able to make best decisions basing on accurate information it provides.
“Companies are able to go into new markets and we have provided a platform for various business leaders to showcase what they offer,” he said.
Usually, a lot of corporate companies respond to social developments such as disasters and droughts by contributing relief food and non-food items in cash or kind but there are several others who have elaborate and permanent CSR structures — thus the Parliamentary Committee’s decision to award such corporates.
