Only Mchinji Villa remaining from the lower leagues in the race for FDH Bank Cup 2025 title

Mchinji Villa of the NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) beat Chatoloma Admarc 4-2 on Sunday to qualify for the quarterfinals of the FDH Bank Cup 2025 — becoming the only lower league side remaining in the race for the cup title.

The quarterfinals draw was conducted yesterday that also concluded that for the semifinals in which Mighty Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are on the collision course if they both win their last eight matches.

Mighty Wanderers date Creck Sporting in the quarterfinals; FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will lock horns with Kamuzu Barracks and the other semifinal is between winners of Civil Service United v Mchinji Villa meeting winners of Blue Eagles v Silver Strikers.

Meanwhile, Mchinji Villa are up against Civil Service United, who beat NDL leaders Red Lions 1-0 at Balaka Stadium on Sunday through Chikaiko Batson in the 57th.

Mchinji Villa scored through a hat-trick from Kelvin Mustafa in the 18th, 76th and 77th and Davie Juwao’s 45+1. Chatoloma were first to score in the 16th through Henry Kaunda with Patrick Martin converting from the penalty spot in the 60th to make it 2-2 before the two quick goals from Mustafa.

Creck Sporting beat fellow TNM Super League side, Moyale Barracks 2-1 to book a date with Mighty Wanderers while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will meet Kamuzu Barracks, who beat another NDL side, Bangwe All Stars 4-1 in post match penalties after playing to a 1-1 draw.

Defending champions, Blue Eagles beat Zingwangwa United to set a date with fellow elite side, Silver Strikers while Creck Sporting ousted Moyale through goals from Patrick Mupanzi (37’) and Frank Phiri 55’) with Moyale’s consolation coming in the 83rd from Charles Nkhoma.

FCB Nyasa Bullets routed lower league side, The Boyz 3-0 through goals from Blessings Msokera (41’), Mike Mkwate (43’) and Chikumbutso Salima (74’).

The first set of the Round of 16 was played on September 11 in which Mighty Wanderers defeated fellow TNM Super League side, Mzuzu City Hammers 2-1 while Silver Strikers whipped FC Shire 4-1.

Mighty Wanderers’s goals were from Blessings Singini in the 34th and Muhammed Sulumba in the 48th with Mzuzu City Hammers’ consolation coming in the 71throgh Jeremia Kanyika in the 71st.

Silver Strikers’ Binwell Kaminjolo claimed a hat-trick in 4th minute, 34th and from the penalty spot in the 55th with Andrew Joseph Making it 4-0 in the 59th. FC Shire’s consolation was from Vincent Mark in the 69th.
