Having amassed 22 points, Namitete have thus moved from 6th place to 5th where they have displaced Chilobwe United, who have 19 points.
Chilobwe were pushed further to 7th place as FOMO have now earned 21 points and lie on 6th.
One match was not played today following the death of Junior Banda, player for 2nd-placed Extreme FC, who were scheduled to meet rock bottom of the table Changalume Barracks.
He died on Saturday, October 10, 2026, aged 24 and a minute of silence in his honour was thus observed at both matches.

On Friday, seasoned Mighty Tigers, who were relegated from the top flight league in the 2025 season and are facing the same prospects in the 2nd-tier league, registered their third win at Mpira Stadium.

They, however, opened an 8-point gap ahead of Bangwe All Stars, who are 11th with 6 points and reduced to one point behind Ndirande Stars, who are also in the relegation zone on 9th.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) describes the passing Junior Banda as “a great loss to Extreme FC and the Malawi football fraternity”.
“Born on 26 February 2002, Banda rose through the ranks of Extreme FC’s reserve team before establishing himself in the senior side.
“He was part of the Extreme FC squad that reached the semi-finals of the FDH Bank Cup in 2022 and also contributed to the club’s campaign to secure promotion to the Super League.
“FAM extends its heartfelt condolences to the Banda family, Extreme FC, his teammates, friends and the entire football fraternity during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
