Going into Matchweek 3 of the overall 18 to wrap up the NBM Women’s Premiership 2026/27, MDF Lionesses international, Asimenye Simwaka, is leading the Season 2 in the race for the Golden Boot with 3 goals.
They are from a brace she attained in the Lionesses 2-1 win over Kukoma Ntopwa Women in Matchweek 2 and the other in 1-1 draw with Ascent Soccer in the opening encounter in which she also won the Player of the Match.
Two other braces were scored by Civil Service Women’s Benaderta Nyenga and Ascent Soccer’s international Leticia Chinyamula.
Nyenga achieved hers when Civil Women thrashed Mighty Wanderers Queens 5-1 with Chinyamula in Ascent’s 5-1 triumph over debutants Rumphi Sisters.
Silver Strikers Ladies’ international Ireen Khumalo also netted two goals but one each from two matches when the reigning champions beat Ntopwa Women 2-1 in opening match and in the triumph over debutants Chitoliro Heroines.

In that match, it took the Bankers up to the 90+5 minutes to break the spirited debutants and carry the day at home, Silver Stadium.
The hosts took the lead way into the game in the 40th minute through Carolyne Mathyola assisted by Khumalo and the result stayed that way up to the 70th when Rachael Matemba equalised for Chitoliro Heroines — following a goalkeeping blunder by the Silver Strikers Ladies goalkeeper.
Then the visitors succumbed in the last minute of the five that the 4th official announced as added time and assisted by fellow international, Tionge Phiri, Khumalo netted the winner.
Her overall performance earned the Malawi Scorchers international the Player of the Match award, the second after also getting it in the opening match in 1-1 draw with Ascent Soccer.
Mayamiko Mkandawire of Ascent Soccer and Mighty Wanderers Queens’s Faluna Umali also have two goals each — while one apiece are:

Matchweek 3 starts in midweek, with Headline fixtures being two involving current log table leaders, Nyasa Big Bullets Women and runners-up Silver Ladies tomorrow.
The two sides share 6 points each but separated by goal difference and both are away; with the Bullets Women at Nankhaka in Lilongwe to be hosted by debutants, FACT Ladies, who lie 7th on the log table with 3 points.
Reigning champions Silver Ladies will be at Civo Stadium to face MDF Lionesses, who have 4 points and are placed on 4th.
