It is reported that in July 2024, the exhibit vehicle was impounded last month. The four officers were on night duties at the charge office and in the course of performing their night duties, they connived and stole the exhibit vehicle’s properties that was later sold to one of businessmen of Mchinji main market.

Then early this month of November, Mchinji Police Station’s detective, Inspector Brown Chewe came to notice that the spare tyre plus the side view mirrors of the vehicle were missing and a notice was given to every officer to come in the open concerning the stolen properties but no one revealed.

On Friday, November 8, Inspector Chewe and fellow detectives received a tip of the whereabouts of the stolen property at Mchinji main market.

The receiver of the goods was traced and after been interviewed he revealed to have bought the stolen materials from the four mentioned officers at a price of MK40,000.

The report further says only the wheel spanner has been recovered and investigations are underway to recover the remaining properties while the four officers are the cooler.
