Fellow Africans Algeria have dented Malawi’s three-game winning streak at the ongoing FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan beating the Junior Flames 4-0 this morning.

The North Africans were ruthless as they led 3-0 at the half time break before completing the rout in the second period.
Yesterday the Junior Flames won their third match by beating Suriname 3-1 after they had earlier triumphed over Oman by the same score in the morning.
They opened their campaign by beating Chinese Taipei 3-2 on Saturday and they are meeting South Americans, Argentina later this afternoon at 16h15 to complete the group games.

The tournament, available to stream live for free globally FIFA+ on DAZN, is being played in an 8-a-side format with 20-minute halves, divided into an initial qualification stage and a subsequent tournament stage (Tiers A through F).
It is a new global youth football competition introduced by FIFA as part of its Talent Development Scheme — with the aim of giving young players from around the world greater access to international competition and development opportunities.
Unlike conventional World Cups, the event is designed primarily around player development and participation.
The inaugural event features boys’ teams, while a girls’ edition is scheduled for 2027 and FIFA plans to stage separate boys’ and girls’ competitions annually from 2028 onwards.
