FAM, CAF use US$225,000 earned at CAF School Championship-COSAFA qualifier by buying electric kitchen pots for Salima Secondary School

Salima Secondary School, who were runners-up during the CAF School Championship-COSAFA qualifier and 3rd at the continental championship, earned a total of US$225,000.

For coming third at the regional qualifiers that Football Association of Malawi (FAM) hosted at Bingu National Stadium, they received US$75,000 and a further US$150,000 was the prize money for the continental championship.

To reward the team for their achievement, FAM used the prize money to buy electric cooking pots and pay for other amenities for Salima Secondary School, which FAM President Fleetwood Haiya commissioned yesterday.

The prize money was aligned to be utilised for developmental projects within the school and Salima and CAF collaborated to purchase electric cooking pots (US$40,000); maize mill maintainance (US$2,000); football pitch maintenance (US$17,000); fence construction (US$160,000) and sports equipment (US$6,000).

Fam.mw quotes Haiya as saying the association is pleased that the projects implentation has started and indicated that it is FAM’s duty to ensure that all projects are concluded.
