The High Commission’s official Facebook account, UK in Malawi, reports that today, she met the Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda to discuss shared priorities, including the importance of judicial independence, the rule of law, and access to justice.

“The UK remains committed to supporting strong accountable institutions in Malawi,” reports the UK in Malawi, adding that a day earlier she was in Zomba, where she met with the UNIMA “to recognise the important role they play in driving development”.
“Discussions highlighted the value of strong partnerships and the importance of independent, research-based insights in informing policy and shaping Malawi’s growth agenda.”

Before engaging UNIMA, Stubblefield reported that she had the privilege of visiting the MDF War Memorial Tower in Zomba — “a powerful tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom”.
“On this solemn occasion, we reflect with gratitude and commit to honouring their memory. We shall never forget,” said the High Commissioner, who also toured the MDF Museum in the Old Capital.

On May 29, on the commemoration of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, the High Commissioner paid a courtesy call on MDF Chief, General George Alexander Jaffu Jnr, to reinforce strong defence ties between the UK and Malawi.

She highlighted that Malawi and the UK “have a long-standing history of collaboration, including support for peacekeeping training and wider defence cooperation, contributing to international peace and security over many years”.
“As the world marks the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, this partnership reflects a shared commitment to the principles and professionalism that underpin global peacekeeping efforts,” she said.
