She has overtaken fellow international Asimenye Simwaka of MDF Lionesses, who has 3 goals to her name after Matchweek 3.

Vitumbiko is two ahead of another international, Leticia Chinyamula of Ascent Soccer, whom Civil Women have displaced on 3rd place of the log table.

At Mpira Stadium, the Civil Women amassed 6 points from three games to push Ascent Soccer to the 4th position after the Lilongwe football academy drew 3-3 with Mighty Wanderers Queens on Thursday.

It took up to the 45th minute for the Civil Women to take the lead after Chitoliro Heroines matched the experienced visitors’ intensity as they were able to mark the ball and defend well.

Vitumbiko Mkandawire, who had kept troubling the hosts throughout the first half, opened the lead after receiving a good ball from Bernadette Nyenga.

Chitoliro Heroines came back into the second half to try and equalise but Vitumbiko struck again in the 61st from the penalty spot, scoring with her left foot that Elikinah Nyasulu could not stop the shot despite guessing to move in the right direction.

Vitumbiko claimed her hat-trick in the 75th assisted by Menen Kapasule and three minutes later Anna Bazilio sent a good pass into the box that Tereza Kanyika guided into the net to make it 4-0.

Vitumbiko claimed her 4th in the 79th from Alinafe Milanzi’s assist to add more woes to the debutantes, who are yet to get a point having lost 0-3 to Nyasa Big Bullets Women in the opening match and 1-2 to Silver Strikers Ladies in Matchweek 2.

As it stands, Chitoliro has moved to 10th having conceded 10 goals and netting once while Rumphi Sisters are 9th after conceding 7 and scoring once.

The reigning champions, Silver Ladies are at the summit with 9 points, tying and separated by goal difference with Bullets Women.

On 5th are Mighty Wanderers Queens with 4 points, sharing with MDF Lionesses on 6th; 7th occupied by Kukoma Ntopwa Women (3); and 8th being FACT Ladies (3).

With two goals are Benaderta Nyenga (Civil Service Women), Mayamiko Mkandawire (Ascent Soccer), Ireen Khumalo (Silver Strikers Ladies), Faluna Umali (Mighty Wanderers Queens), Tawina Kawaga (Mighty Wanderers Queens), Evelyn Dallas (FACT Ladies), Vanessa Issa (Nyasa Big Bullets Women).
