A statement from UK-MCC says the launch has been organised in partnership with the Scotland Malawi Partnership and in collaboration with the office of the Malawi High Commission to the UK.

“This milestone occasion will bring together Scottish and Malawian business leaders, diaspora entrepreneurs, development partners, and government officials to celebrate and strengthen bilateral trade and investment relationships,” said the statement.

It adds that the UK-MCC “is an apolitical, member-led organisation that operates independently to promote trade and investment” and that “it receives support from both Malawi Government and the Government of the United Kingdom — in this case the Scottish Government”.

According to UK-MCC, the partnerships reinforces the body’s position “as a reliable platform for collaborative economic development”, adding that Mumba presence “underscores Malawi Government’s strong commitment to promoting economic diplomacy, attracting foreign direct investment, and building sustainable international partnerships”.

Malawi’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Dr. Thomas Bisika, who is UK-MCC Patron is quoted as saying: “Malawi is ready for business. As we aspire to become an upper middle-income and self-reliant country, it is clear that trade and investment will be important.

“The UK Malawi Chamber of Commerce is well positioned to support UK businesses planning to invest in Malawi. The launch of the Scotland Chapter will add impetus to Malawi’s quest for increased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).”

The organisers say the event will be moderated by UK-MCC chief executive officer, Hannington Gondwe, whose confirmed speakers include Minister Mumba; H.E. Dr. Bisika and Edgar Chibaka, who is chairperson and co-founder of UK-MCC & first response group.

“The Scotland Chapter represents our commitment to enabling trade through diaspora-led structures and building a new era of economic collaboration,” he said, while inviting businesses, investors, and changemakers “to be part of this transformative journey”.

“We’re proud to support this initiative, which brings economic opportunity into the heart of that partnership. It’s about promoting fair, ethical, and inclusive trade that benefits both nations — and creating new connections that will last long into the future.”

The organisers added that the UK-MCC Scotland Chapter is set to serve as “a vital platform to support market access, investment readiness, policy dialogue, and sustainable trade partnerships”.

“With growing interest in priority sectors such as agro-processing, renewable energy, manufacturing and tourism, Malawi offers vast potential for inclusive growth,” said the statement adding that registration is required as spaces are limited.
