This will be than a game — it’s Pachema! as fireworks are expected after these last battled fierce semifinal derbies in which Silver Strikers beat their Capital city rivals Civil Service United 1-0, with the same score line seeing Mighty Wanderers beating FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
The Blantyre cup derby triumph came a week after Wanderers beat their arch 3-0 in the TNM Super League derby, whose first round was also won by the Nomads.
In the thrilling Blantyre derby at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, substitute Promise Kamwendo was the hero of the day, heading home an Isaac Kaliati cross in the 89th minute to hand Wanderers a memorable victory and secure their first-ever appearance in the FDH Bank Cup final since the competition’s inception in 2021.

Head coach Bob Mpinganjira hailed his side’s resilience, describing the win as a reward for discipline and tactical execution: “It was a tough game, but the boys played according to plan,” he is quoted as saying by FAM Media.
“We are happy to reach the final, and our focus now is on Silver Strikers. They are a strong team, so we must prepare well to get our hands on the FDH Bank Cup trophy for the first time.”
Mpinganjira added that he will continue rotating his squad to manage fatigue and maintain sharpness ahead of the final and the remaining league fixtures, while his counterpart, Peter Mponda admitted the defeat was painful but praised his players for their effort.
“It’s painful to take considering how we played. We controlled large parts of the game but failed to capitalise. Wanderers punished us from a lapse in marking,” he said.
