Silver Strikers are set to miss the services of their talented Malawi international midfielder Chimwemwe Idana along their journey of defending the TNM Super League as the midfield maestro has sealed a two-year contract with Zambian based outfit, ZANACO to take through up to 2027.

The club’s media reports that Idana leaves Silver Strikers after spending a good three years where he joined on loan from Mbeya FC in February 2023, then later sealed permanent deal in June the same year.
Described as extraordinary midfielder, he last played for Silver’s 3-1 win against Karonga United on Wednesday, June 25 as his last match which he christened with Man of the Match accolade performance that was accompanied by a goal.
Among other triumphant times, Idana won the TNM Super League 2024 title and the club’s Player of the Season award and the Bankers bids farewell to him by saying: “He came to Area 47, conquered, and left an indelible mark in the hearts of many.
“The Silver Strikers Board, management, staff and fans wish Idana all the best in his future endeavors,” said the club of the player who was pivotal of the Bankers’ 2-0 victory over Blantyre giants, Nyasa Big Bullets in the First Capital Bank (FCB)-at-30 Trophy — a 30th anniversary celebrations cup of the Bullets sponsors doing business in the country that was played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.

Silver Strikers chief executive officer, Patrick Chimimba could not be drawn into disclosing the signing on fee for Idana, whose stay at the Area 47 outfit saw him emerge as the top most valued player, having led the end of Bankers’ 11-year trophy drought to the Malawi’s elite league championship — and winning many awards whilst with the Bankers.
Idana, who has been with Silver Strikers from 2023-2025, embarked on his professional career from Nyasa Big Bullets reserve in 2017 before being promoted to the main team in between 2018/2019 season and featured in Malawi national football team, the Flames in his six-year involvement with the Bullets.—Edited by Maravi Express
