Reigning NBM Women’s Premiership, Silver Strikers Ladies have displaced Nyasa Big Bullets Women from the top of the log table after beating city rivals MDF Lionesses 3-0 this Wednesday afternoon at Civo Stadium.

The Bullets Women also earned three points after beating debutants FACT Ladies 3-1 at Nankhaka to tie on 9 points but separated by goal difference.
The two teams are now five points ahead of 3rd-placed Ascent Soccer, have their Matchweek 3 assignment on Thursday against 6th-placed Mighty Wanderers Queens at Mpira Stadium.
Following the loss, MDF Lionesses maintain their 4th place with 4 points, two ahead of Civil Service Women, who are away at Mpira Stadium on Sunday to face 9th-placed debutants Chitoliro Heroines.
The match at Civo Stadium, was a repeat of the 2025 season when Silver Ladies also triumphed over the MDF Lionesses 2-1 in Mponela in the first round before the military side getting their revenge in the reverse fixture with a 2-1 victory at Silver Stadium.
It was a balanced performance with Malawi Scorchers internationals Asimenye Simwaka and Catherine Kachala in thick of things on the side of the Lionesses and Ireen Khumalo Carolyne Mathyola for the Bankers.
After some brilliant defending by the hosts, Silver Ladies finally broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Yamikani Mhango supplied a good assist to Mathyola, who finished with a superb strike beat MDF Lionesses’ goalkeeper, Yamikani Kaonga.
They went for the halftime break at 1-0 and the Bankers doubled the lead in the 69th through Grace Kakangula with a fine finish past goalkeeper Kaonga — assisted by Chikondi Gondwe.
International Madyina Ngulube registered her name on the scoresheet for the 3rd goal in the 86th when she fired a powerful shot from inside the box that completely beat goalkeeper Kaonga.
Ngulube was also assisted by Yamikani Mhango, who had provided a pass to Mathyola for the first goal and through her overall performance, she earned the Player of the Match.
At Nankhaka, the debutants managed to hold out against the Bullets Women up until the 37th when a communication breakdown inside the box left FACT Ladies exposed and Vanessa Issa capitalised to find the back of the net.
The Bullets Women were assisted double the lead in the 67th minute through an own goal through Martha Christopher after pressure from Mary Chavinda.
The 2025/26 4th place finishers then made it 3-1 in the 73rd Chavinda from a direct free kick to record three wins of the NBM Women’s Premiership Season 2.
Meanwhile, debutants Rumphi Sisters, who are at the rock bottom of the table, will meet 8th-placed Kukoma Ntopwa Women at Rumphi Stadium on Thursday.
