The Matchweek 3 assignment between Namitete Zitha and Chilobwe United, which was postponed last weekend following the passing of Chilobwe’s technical director, veteran coach Rodgers Yasin, will be the only NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) game this weekend, which is scheduled on Sunday, June 6, at Owen Malijani Stadium in Mchinji.

The Season 2 new entrants, Chilobwe United are on 9th position having earned only one point from two games played while Namitete Zitha, who were Season 1 contestants, have no point and lying on 11th.

They have opened the 2026/2027 campaign in the relegation zone of the 12-team 2nd tier league, from which four get demoted to the 3rd tier system.

Thus each of the two are preparing for Sunday’s encounter with a focus to win and move up. Ahead of Namitete Zitha are two teams with one point; Bangwe All Stars on 10th and their Sunday opponents — meaning a win will see them jump up two spots to 9th.

In the event of Chilobwe winning, they will share 4 points with Mzuzu City Hammers (8th), Ntaja United (7th), and Mighty Tigers (6th).

A win of high goals for Namitete, who have scored one and conceded three, shall even make them leapfrog over the three, as the Hammers have scored two and conceded 1 while Ntaja and Tigers both have 5 goals against 5.

Leading the table on goal difference are last season’s contestants, Ndirande Stars, who are sharing on 7 points with 2nd-placed Songwe Border United and Embangweni on 3rd.

Just one point separates the top four teams as on 4th place with 6 points are Exteme FC while on 5th are FOMO FC with 5 points.
