Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC) has alerted the public that some fraudsters have generated receipts and waybills using artificial intelligence (AI) duping customers to make advance payment for their goods through MPC Courier service.

In a statement, MPC indicates that they have had one or two cases of the fraudsters using the receipts and waybills, which they detected as fake as they are “different from the genuine MPC-system generated receipts in connection with online buying and selling of goods”.
“The fraudulent documents falsely indicate that goods have been dispatched through MPC, misleading unsuspecting buyers into making payments when, in fact, no consignment has been sent through MPC.
“The public is, therefore, urged to exercise caution and verify all shipments through MPC’s official tracking system before making any payments,” says the statement.
MPC thus explained that to verify a shipment, should visit; https://www.malawipost.post/and select e-Services → go to Virtual Post Office and → into tracking.
Then to enter the waybill number as shown on the receipt and search to confirm the shipment status.
Alternatively, to track consignments by clicking the link; http://postglobalonline.com/PostGlobal/Malawi/VPO/Login.aspx.
Or by scanning the QR Code, which can be accessed on MPC’s official Facebook account and enter the waybill number.
