The Mzuzu magistrate Court has sentenced four men to 6 years imprisonment with IHL after being found guilty of breaking and looting properties worthy 9.5 Million Malawi Kwacha at BATA Store in the recent demonstrations in Mzuzu.

Meanwhile Police in the Northern Region has commended the rulling saying this will serve as a warning to those who participate in demonstrations with evil intentions.
Police arrested eleven people in connection with the breaking and looting at Bata chain stores in Mzuzu during the 21st June Demonstrations organized by the HRDS.
Seven of the arrested people have so far being acquitted by the court
The four are Moses Zgala 20
Rodgers Chavula 24
Bernard Sibale 22
Aubrey Mkandawire 24
all from Mzimba and Bernard Sibale from Rumphi
in the recent demonstrations in Mzuzu .
