Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has launched a competition for the best-designed Limited Edition Kit for the Scorchers’ Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 campaign.
In February, FAM also invited the public to design a limited edition for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAfCON) Morocco 2026 and it was won by Blantyre-based designer, Thandi Phiri.

She was rewarded with K1 million and this time around the reward is K3 million for the talented and creative Malawian designers aged between 18-35.
“Following the Scorchers’ historic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, FAM seeks a distinctive kit that celebrates Malawian culture, national pride, women’s football and the Scorchers’ identity,” says the invite.

It thus indicates that the design should be creatively original, to demonstrate an understanding of Malawian culture and the ability to incorporate the national colours of black, red and green.
It should strictly not be unisex or men’s templates but a women football-focused jersey, reflecting strength, empowerment, and comfort.
The kit should be in three concepts — red for home matches, green for away and black for alternative — with secondary colours (black, red and green to used for trims or accents.

Designs should reflect Malawi culture, national pride, and Scorchers identity with clean, modern graphics and to avoid overcrowding.
Each kit must include, at least, one unique limited-edition element for WAfCON 2026 and women’s football such as inner collar text, special badge, and unique graphic.
