Ecobank Group’s regional executive for Central, Eastern & Southern Africa, Josephine Anan-Ankomah, toured Malawi on a strategic leadership visit from August 10-13, which focused on strengthening engagement with key internal and external stakeholders and advancing strategic alignment across the Bank.

In a statement, Ecobank Malawi indicates that Among her engagements included a courtesy call with one of Ecobank Malawi’s key customers, National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA).
Its discussions centred on understanding NOCMA’s evolving needs, identifying opportunities for deeper collaboration and exploring how Ecobank can continue to deliver greater value through its local expertise and extensive Pan-African network.
The visit, according to Ecobank Malawi, provided an important platform for Anan-Ankomah to connect with Ecobank Malawi’s leadership, Board and key customers, while gaining perspectives on the Bank’s operating environment and opportunities for the future.

She commenced her programme at the Ecobank Malawi corporate office in Lilongwe, where she engaged the bank’s senior management team “in strategic discussions on the direction of the business”.
“The engagement provided an opportunity to align on strategic priorities, explore opportunities for sustainable growth and strengthen the connection between Ecobank Malawi’s priorities and the broader ambitions of the central, eastern and southern Africa (CESA) region and the Ecobank Group.
“The discussions focused on strengthening execution, enhancing customer value, deepening relationships across key sectors and positioning the Bank to capture emerging opportunities in the Malawian market,” says the statement.
The Regional Executive’s stakeholder engagements extended beyond the Bank, reflecting Ecobank’s commitment to maintaining strong and strategic relationships with its customers and partners, which included the meeting with NOCMA management.

Ecobank Malawi further state that her programme included an engagement with the Ecobank Malawi Board of directors, providing an important platform for strategic dialogue, perspectives and alignment on the Bank’s future direction and opportunities for sustainable growth.
Anan-Ankomah is quoted as saying: “My visit to Ecobank Malawi has provided a valuable opportunity to listen, learn and engage with our customers, Board and leadership.
“Each interaction has provided important perspectives on the opportunities ahead and reinforced the importance of strong relationships, strategic alignment and disciplined execution.
“I have been encouraged by the commitment and energy across the business, and I am confident that, working together, we can continue to deepen relationships, deliver greater value to our customers and unlock sustainable growth opportunities for Ecobank Malawi.”

On his part, Ecobank Malawi’s Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Fordwuo attested to that Anan-Ankomah’s facilitated meaningful engagements across the Bank’s leadership, the Board and its customers.
“Her visit has strengthened our alignment with the CESA region and the wider Ecobank Group, while providing valuable perspectives on the strategic direction ahead.
“As Ecobank Malawi, we remain focused on delivering on the Group’s growth, transformation and returns agenda by strengthening our customer proposition, deepening strategic partnerships, accelerating transformation and positioning the Bank to capture emerging opportunities in Malawi.”
The Bank emphasises that the visit “reaffirmed the importance of strong stakeholder relationships, strategic alignment and disciplined execution in advancing Ecobank Malawi’s ambitions”.
“It also underscored the value of Ecobank Group’s Pan-African network in supporting customers, strengthening partnerships and unlocking opportunities across markets.
