Played at Owen Malijani Stadium in Mchinji, Chilobwe United took the lead through Anzeru Joseph — assisted by Kondwani Siliya — and Kondwani Siliya 87th goal while the consolation was from Maxwell Mangwere in the 57th from the penalty spot.

The NDL debutantes have moved one place up the log table from 9th to 8th and they have displaced Mzuzu City Hammers, who have been pushed to 9th while Namitete have maintained their 11th place without a point in three games.

This was the only NBS Bank NDL fixture this weekend, which was postponed last weekend following the passing of Chilobwe United’s technical director, veteran coach Rogers Yasin.

Chilobwe United, coached by former international Elvis Kafoteka transitioned from the 3rd tier league where they were champions of the Central Region Premier Division, now recommissioned as Regional Division League One — while Namitete Zitha participated in the inaugural 2nd tier NDL.

At the top of the table are Ndirande Stars with 7 points, sharing with 2nd-placed Songwe Border United and 3rd-placed Embangweni — all from two wins and a draw.

On 4th are new entrants Extreme FC with 6 points while FOMO FC, who came 4th in Season 1 are 5th with 5 points.

Chilobwe’s Stanley Getsi earned the Man of the Match award presented by NBS Bank Mchinji Branch’s Mphatso Ngongonda
