Extreme took the runners-up spot last week having amassed 9 points, while Songwe, who occupied the 2nd place in two consecutive Matchweeks, rose to the top spot when they beat Embangweni United 2-1 to amass 10 points.

Being an away encounter for Extreme, they definitely will require to dig deeper at Karonga Stadium if they can reclaim the top spot as Songwe will be looking not to disappoint their home fans while making sure they maintain their status quo.

And if Extreme lose, they will be displaced from the 2nd spot in the event that 3rd-placed Ndirande Stars win in their encounter against 8th-placed Mzuzu City Hammers on Saturday at Rumphi Stadium.

Extreme are just behind a point ahead of Ndirande Stars and 2 points away from 4th-placed Embangweni United, who date 11th-placed Bangwe All Stars in the opening Matchweek 5 assignments to be played on this Friday afternoon at Rumphi Stadium.

Saturday follows with action between rock-bottom of the table Changalume Barracks (12th/1pt) and Mighty Tigers (9th/4pts) to be played at Zomba Stadium.

Other matches to be played on Sunday are between 10th-placed Namitete Zitha (3 points) and FOMO FC (5th/6pts) at Owen Malijani Stadium in Mchinji with Ntaja United (7th) hosting 6th-placed Chilobwe United at Balaka Stadium — both sharing 5 points but separated by goal difference.

At this stage with four games played each, the race for the Season 2 title is still wide open for the front runners and all is there to fight for, while the bottom four teams have a lot of work cut out for them to stay out of the relegation zone.

It will be a case of looking over their shoulders for 8th-placed Mzuzu City Hammers and Mighty Tigers (9th) against those behind them at the same time being a long shot at getting to the top three to reclaim their place back into the elite league they were relegated from in 2025 season.

Both share 4 points, one ahead of 10th-placed Namitete Zitha, two away from 11th-placed Bangwe All Stars, and four ahead of Changalume Barracks at the rock bottom.

The middle pack is also at almost even contest for the top three spot involving FOMO (5th/6pts), Chilobwe United (6th/5pts), and Ntaja United 7th/5pts).
