Ascent Soccer, who finished as runners-up in the inaugural NBM Women’s Premiership season, in which they won 13 matches, drew two and lost three, have this time around won two games and also drew twice.
Last Sunday, they beat Nyasa Big Bullets Women 2-1 away at Mpira Stadium to accumulate 8 points while maintaining their 4th place on the log table.
In Matchweek 5, they are at home Ascent Ground to host Chitoliro Heroines, who are at the rock bottom of the team having lost all their four assignments.

Debutants Chitoliro Heroines

It will be such an uphill battle for the rookies but anything can happen if they dwell on the inspiration of their fellow debutants, who celebrated Mother’s Day in style last week when recorded their first win by beating experienced MDF Lionesses 2-1 and it was away at Nankhaka.
Ascent Soccer are one point behind the front runners, Civil Service Women, reigning champions Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets Women, who share nine points and separated through goal difference on 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

These top three have each lost once, with Civil Women accumulating 13 goals and conceding four, Silver Ladies scoring 10 and conceding five while Bullets Women netted eight against three.
Civil Women, who beat Silver Ladies 3-2 in their Lilongwe derby last Saturday, will meet debutants FACT Ladies, who are 6th on the log table with 6 points.
To be played at Civo Stadium this Saturday, FACT Ladies should be galvanized having cruised to a 3-1 victory over fellow debutants Chitoliro Heroines on Mother’s Day.
On Sunday, reigning champions Silver Ladies are at home to host Rumphi Sisters, the team that stunned MDF Lionesses, that boast of top internationals, forward Asimenye Simwaka, defender Patricia Nyirenda and goalkeeper Yamikani Kaonga.
But the rookies were not intimidated and this Sunday fixtures makes it more interesting, which the Silver Ladies head into having lost to rivals Civil Women.

Rumphi Sisters
Third-placed Nyasa Big Bullets date Kukoma Ntopwa Women, who head into this assignment having beaten Mighty Wanderers 3-2 on Sunday.
Ntopwa thus accumulated 6 points to perch on 5th position, displacing Mighty Wanderers Queens, who were pushed to 7th position.
The Mighty Queens share 4 points with MDF Lionesses, whom they are hosting at Mpira Stadium on Sunday from 12h00 — ahead of the encounter between Nyasa Big Bullets and Kukoma Ntopwa Women.
An interesting result in Matchweek 4 was Ascent Soccer’s 2-1 win over Bullets Women at Mpira Stadium, a venue they lost by the same margin last season.
Ascent Soccer also beat the Bullets Women 2-1 at home in last season — thus the reverse fixture in the second round this time would be quite intriguing.
