Headline fixture as NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) resumes after a two-week break, involves runaway leaders, Songwe Border United, who are away on Saturday to meet 3rd-placed Mzuzu City Hammers.

Songwe Border, who go into Matchweek 14 at Rumphi Stadium with 31 points, opened a five-point lead on the log table against runners-up Extreme FC who have 26 points, while their opponents on Saturday, the Hammers, have 24.

Extreme will meet rock bottom of the table Changalume Barracks, who have not won a match but drew four in their debut appearance in the 2nd tier national league.

On 4th place are Embangweni United with 23 points, who travel to Machinga on Saturday at Ntaja Vision Stadium for a date with 8th-placed Ntaja United with 16 points.

FOMO FC, on 7th with 18 points, are at home, Mulanje Park on Sunday, where they prove tough to beat and this time hosting 5th-placed Chilobwe United, who have 19 points.

Chilobwe share points with Namitete Zitha, who are 6th and are meeting relegation-placed Ndirande Stars on Sunday at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.

On 9th place, Ndirande Stars share 15 points with Ntaja while Mighty Tigers are 10th with 11 points.

In the fight to avoid demotion, Mighty Tigers are meeting fellow relegation zone side, Bangwe All Stars on Friday at Mpira Stadium.

Bangwe, who participated in the inaugural NBS Bank NDL finishing 7th, have a huge uphill task to extricate themselves from the relegation zone as they have just 6 points from one win and three draws.

They are five points behind Mighty Tigers and nine behind Ndirande Stars with two ahead of Changalume Barracks at the rock bottom.

Ntaja on 8th are in precarious position as they are just a point ahead Ndirande Stars, with two behind 7th-placed FOMO FC.

Thus the second round is really still close and would prove to be stiffly competed for the title, and to be in top three to earn promotion into the elite FDH Bank Premiership — and to escape relegation.
