Ascent Soccer have since maintained their 3rd place of the NBM Women’s Premiership table with 5 points, ahead of 6th-placed Civil Service Women (3 points), who play their Matchweek 3 assignment on Sunday against debutants Chitoliro Heroines at Mpira Stadium.
At Mpira Stadium, Wanderers Queens opened the lead in the 3rd minute through Estere January assisted by Faluna Umali before increasing it to 2-0 in the 16th through Tawina Kawaga following a good pass from Njilima.
Kawaga then claimed her brace in the 23rd to make it three up in as the Queens ran riot but Ascent Soccer were not outdone as they started to dominate proceedings with internationals Mayamiko Mkandawire and Leticia Chinyamula at the heart of it.

Mkandawire showed her intent to cause trouble when her free kick outside the box rattled the crossbar and the visitors pulled one back in the 36 through an own goal by Wanderers captain Funny Moyo.
After coming back from half time trailing by two goals, Ascent reduced the arrears in the 53rd through Chinyamula range after being laid the ball from Mkandawire.
They levelled the scores in the 76 through Chinyamula, completing her brace and again assisted with Mkandawire registering her second assist of the day.

Chinyamula earned Player of the Match award
At Rumphi Stadium, Kukoma Ntopwa earned their first full points through the lone goal from Kondawo Banda in the 29th from the penalty spot after a reckless foul by debutants Rumphi Sisters defender in the 18-yard box.
Kukoma Ntopwa Women have thus moved from 8th place to 7th while on Wednesday, reigning champions Silver Strikers Ladies displaced Nyasa Big Bullets from top of the log table after beating city rivals MDF Lionesses 3-0 at Civo Stadium.
The Bullets Women also earned three points after beating debutants FACT Ladies 3-1 at Nankhaka to tie on 9 points but separated by goal difference.

The two teams are now four points ahead of Ascent Soccer, and following the loss and Wanderers’ draw, MDF Lionesses have been pushed to 5th with 4 points.
The match at Civo Stadium, was a repeat of the 2025 season when Silver Ladies also triumphed over the MDF Lionesses 2-1 in Mponela in the first round before the military side getting their revenge in the reverse fixture with a 2-1 victory at Silver Stadium.
