Speaking during the third draw of the promotion, NBS Bank’s Head of Products, Esnart Mtchembe, highlighted that since the introduction of the competition, there has been overwhelming response — a development which she said will help to ensure the promotion meet its main purpose.

Launched on June 1 and to run up to December 22, 2026, customers are required to save a minimum of K250,000 every month into their NBS Bank account and maintain active account usage through transactions across the bank’s channels and platforms.

It’s grand prize is an electric vehicle pick-up truck, which is NBS Bank’s commitment towards its environmental, social and governance (ESG) execution — as the electriccars do not emit smoke into the environment while the solar powered units are part of renewable energy solution.

The monthly prizes include K1 million cash prize for the monthly winner, solar lights, bluetooth speakers, and T-shirts.

“The number of entries is very encouraging and we are very impressed and confident that by the end of this promotion most of our customers will understand the importance of having the culture of financial savings because that’s our major target,” Mtchembe said.

At the launch on June 1, NBS Bank highlighted that the promotion also aligns with its broader strategic objectives under its 10X Strategy — which seeks to deepen customer relationships, accelerate digital adoption, and expand access to formal financial services across Malawi.

Chief Operating Officer, Shadrick Chikusilo maintained that “by encouraging customers to save regularly and actively use banking services, NBS Bank believes the campaign will contribute to increased financial inclusion, improved financial resilience, and stronger participation in the formal banking sector”.—Editing by Duncan Mlanjira, Maravi Express
