Malawian international Khuda Muyaba signed a contract with Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League side Scottland FC that was to run from June 2025 to June 2027, but the club has decided to terminate it following the recommendations of coach, Norman Mapeza.

According to Kickoff.com, Scottland FC — who won the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League 2025 title — have undergone a raft of changes ahead of the new season, with several players already having been laid off, one of them being Muyaba, who confirmed with Maravi Express that he is now a free agent.

Muyaba, who has since returned back home in Malawi, was roped in by the club under coach Tonderai Ndiraya, whose contract was also not renewed after it expired at the end of the season — thus replaced by Mapeza.

KickOff also reports that Khama Billiat, who teamed up well with Muyaba in the run up to winning the league title under coach Tonderai Ndiraya, is also on the verge of being laid off as Scottland FC prepares to participate in the CAF Champions League 2026.

According to KickOff, the uncertainty surrounding Billiat’s future is not linked to his ability or influence on the pitch, but rather to a reported strained relationship with the newly-appointed head coach — the same being between Mapeza and Muyaba.

“The 35-year-old [Billiat] did not see eye to eye with Mapeza during part of 2021, a period when Billiat stepped away from international football while Mapeza was in charge of the Zimbabwe national team,” reports KickOff.

“Although Billiat never publicly revealed his reasons for retiring from the Warriors in November 2021, reports at the time suggested that his decision was influenced by issues related to Mapeza’s management style.

“Now, with Mapeza at the helm of Scottland, a club Billiat helped to guide to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League title in their maiden top-flight campaign, the attacker could be forced to seek a move elsewhere should the fractured relationship remain unresolved.”

KickOff further confirmed that Zimbabwe PSL side Dynamos FC have opened talks with Billiat as they look to lure the former Mamelodi Sundowns star ahead of the upcoming season.

KickOff also indicated that Billiat — who was among the scorers when Scottland FC sealed the Zimbabwe PSL title in November with two games to spare — is reportedly not the only player reportedly struggling to see eye to eye with Mapeza, with Walter Musona and Muyaba also believed to be in a similar situation.

When Muyaba first played alongside Billiat in July last year, the Malawian singled out the former international’s impact on the game: “It’s an honour to play in the same team with big player Khama Billiat king. More goals to score inshallah,” Muyaba wrote on his Facebook account.

Zimbabwewariorszone.com reports that coach Tonderai Ndiraya was shown the door just days after submitting his transfer wishlist and building what he believed would be the next phase of Scottland’s ambitious project.
