ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) is set to commemorate the 2024 International ICT Expo as its journey towards embracing digital transformation as gateway to economic prosperity for the country.

ICTAM president Clarence Gama announced the news at a press briefing today at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre, saying the 2024 international ICT Expo holds immense significance for Malawi’s technological advancement.

To be held at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe from May 9-10, Gama said Minister of Information & Digitalization, Moses Kunkuyu will grace the occasion as guest of honour to underscore “Malawi government’s commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the ICT sector”.

“The International ICT Expo is not just an annual event — it is a convergence of minds, ideas, and innovations that propel our nation forward in the digital age,” he said.

“It brings together a diverse array of organizations and individuals within the IT industry, providing them with a platform to showcase their products and services. “From sellers of computer hardware and software to system developers, mobile network providers, banks, insurance companies, manufacturing firms, and agriculture organizations — all are invited to step forward and demonstrate their digital innovations.

“But this event is not solely for ICT professionals — it is for every Malawian who utilizes ICT services. Whether you’re a student, a business owner, a farmer, or a government official — this expo is an opportunity for you to explore the latest technological advancements and how they can benefit you.”

Gama further said ICTAM will be recognise excellence within the industry by awarding deserving players in various categories.

These include the ICT Firm of the Year, Tech Start-up of the Year, Digital Insurance of the Year, Lifetime Achievement in ICT Award, Digital Banking Award, Internet Connectivity Award, Digital Public Service Award, Woman in Tech of the Year, and Innovation Tech Solution Award.

“I urge all Malawians to mark their calendars and join us at the Bingu International Convention Centre to experience first hand the exciting developments shaping our digital future.

The International ICT Expo is the leading trade show for information and computing technologies and the computer industry that addresses topics such as big data, telecommunications, 5G, machine learning among others.
