The High Court in Zomba has found former Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Dr, George Chaponda with no case to answer on all counts.
Chaponda was answering three charges which include giving false information to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), influencing a public officer to misuse his position and possession of foreign currency.

Tayub who was answering one count of persuading public officer to exercise his duties corruptly was also found not guilty.
Chief Resident Magistrate, Paul Chiotcha, who delivered the judgement, said the duty of the court at this level was not to test if the case has been made beyond reasonable doubt, but if there is sufficient evidence to put the accused persons to defend themselves
