Speaking during the handover of medical items worth K5 million to Chikwawa District Hospital, PIL General Manager Enwell Kadango said this donation was its first in its CSR program this year

“PIL has collaborated with the Ministry of Health such that we will see a few heath institutions benefiting from such donations and apart from health sector will also assist education sector,” said Kadango.

Kadango said PIL recognizes the importance of the two sectors and how crucial they are in the development of any nation hence its focus.

“Last year PIL set aside K50 million for the two sectors whereby we made a donation to different public health and education facilities across the country as we believe that health and education are very critical sectors to socio-economic development of this country,” he said

He called other private sector to continue providing assistance to the public facilities.

“We know there are many other companies and organizations that are assisting in one way or another with various materials. We believe together we can mount a big force that would surely fill this gap because government alone may not afford to assist everyone,” he said.

Receiving the items, Chikwawa District Commissioner Fred Movete thanked PIL for the assistance which he said will go a long way in improving the service delivery at the hospital.

“Lack of medical equipments like the ones that we have received today remain a challenge in most public health facilities therefore PIL donation will go a long way in the provision of quality health services at this hospital,” said Movete.

The donated items included digital thermometers, BP machines, medicine trolleys, suction unit and nebulizer machines among others.mbc
