USA org. to offer cervical cancer treatment in MW

usaThe First Lady Madam Dr. Getrude Mutharika has expressed appreciation to the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon Organization of the USA for pledging to start offering cervical cancer treatment among women in Malawi.

The First Lady was speaking in New York when she held a meeting with official’s of Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon organization. The First lady said the offer has come at an opportune time when Malawi was topping the list of cases of cervical cancer among women.

Taking her turn, the Chief Executive Officer for the organization Dr. Sellina Schokem said they were ready to start offering their services in the country to help end the problem of cervical cancer among women.

Earlier, the First Lady Dr. Gertrude Mutharika and fellow African First Ladies convened a high level meeting to discuss issues of women and HIV/AIDS in Africa.

The First Lady who is also the Vice Chairperson for Organization of African First Ladies appealed for support on issues of HIV/AIDS in Africa whose cases are on the increase.

The First Lady said Women and girls in Africa are facing serious challenges such as diseases and abuse which require a collective urgent attention.

Meanwhile the China Africa Business Council has donated 100 thousand US Dollars to the organization of African First ladies –OAFLA whose core mandate is to deal with issues of HV AIDS, maternal and Child health in Africa.mbcAfrica.mbc
