The ruling Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) youth grouping, the Blue League yesterday donated maize relief in Honorable Francis Kasaila’s Nsanje Central constituency, reaching out to 320 households in the area on Easter Monday.

The Blue League’s maize distribution ceremony happened at Mpatsa Community Day Secondary School where various vulnerable sections from the community were brought together, including the elderly and blind members.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, a local leader expressed gratefulness for the good gesture shown by the Blue League, whose patron is Malawi’s leader President Arthur Peter Mutharika.

“All of us gathered here to receive this special gift are farmers. We have all our farming tools. We are often hit by natural calamities, but this year’s situation is really just beyond our own effort to overcome. We would also like to ask that wherever you go, you should not misrepresent us in the media as though people from Nsanje are lazy. We are hard workers, in need of new expertise on how to till our kind of land to get a good crop out of it,” requested the representative.

In his turn to address the gathering, Honorable Francis Kasaila encouraged the spirit of otherness among the people of the area and assured that gestures like the one shown by the Blue League will be encouraged in his area, to help the vulnerable and needy.

Speaking on behalf of the Blue League, Mr Dumisani Lindani said the core purpose of the grouping is to demonstrate the development vision of their patron, President Mutharika, on how the youth should take an active role in progressive politics. He also thanked Honorable Kasaila for being exemplary and forthcoming when it comes to opening doors for relief works in his area.

Blue League is a DPP youth grouping that was formed to champion the youth agenda of the DPP-led government and Malawi as a country.
