Hell Broke Loose in Mzuzu, PP Members Injured

Hell broke loose at Chibavi ground in Mzuzu where the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), AFORD and Peoples Party (PP) held joint a political rally, Maravi Express has learnt.
According to local media reports, a group of about 10 unidentified men arrived at the scene of the rally with pangas ordering all PP members to vacate from the venue.
They went on to use their weapons to hack some people who were rushed to Mzuzu Heath Centre.
As for MCP, some members went to court suing Chakwera for his reported undemocratic tendency of self appointing people into positions without a convention.
The move has since attracted criticism from most members of the party who claim that it does not constitute with the once glamorous party’s constitution.
The Court on Friday ruled in their favour that the party that it must hold a national constitution before 90 days where new office bearers are going to be elected.
Dr Lazarus Chakwera is the Leader of the opposition in the Malawi National Assembly and also President of the Malawi Congress Party.
He lost the 2014 May 20 tripartite elections to the current State President of the Republic of Malawi Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
