The Minibus Owners Association of Malawi-MOAM has stopped its members from holding demonstrations aimed at forcing the acting Chief Executive Officer for Blantyre city to resign.
MOAM General Secretary Coxley Kamange told MBC that the executive of MOAM has managed to stop the nation-wide demonstrations after its members agreed at a meeting on Thursday in Blantyre to not go ahead with the demonstrations Friday, March 18th.
Kamange said they will be holding a press conference Friday morning together with some of those who have been leading the members to hold demonstrations.
Kamanga has since advised all minibus operators to take hid of the new development on the matter.
According to minibus operators, they are not happy that the Blantyre City Council is evicting MOAM from Mibawa bus terminal before the expiry of its tenure, accusing the city Chief Executive for flouting procedures.
Blantyre city acting Chief Executive Officer has not yet commented on the development.
