Big Bullets have confirmed that the club will participate in next year’s Confederations of African Football (CAF) Champions League after completing the registration process on Wednesday.
In an exclusive interview with Malawi24, the team’s General Secretary Harold Fote confirmed the development saying the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) had confirmed of the news.
“It’s now official that Big Bullets have finalized the registration process today. FAM’s CEO Suzgo Nyirenda told us that everything is done and that we have completed the signing of the forms,” said Fote.
Asked on whether the executive will consider strengthening the squad, Fote said;
“We will definitely go into the market to add depth to the current squad. We have identified several players and we are sure that we will bring them on board,” explained Fote.
On the possibilities of having sponsors ahead of their campaign, the soft spoken GS said three companies are interested in taking over the team but they will do so upon receiving CAF’S champions league’s registration forms.
“Three companies have shown interest in taking us on board and the deal will be signed only after showing them CAF’s papers.
We won’t disclose them today but we will be able to tell the general public once we sign the contracts,” concluded Fote.
Bullets last competed in the champions league in 2004 where they managed to reach the quarter finals of the cup.
By then, former head of state Dr. Bakili Muluzi was sponsoring the team and it was called Bakili Bullets.
